A subtle highlight and contour is as important as your foundation. Most of my clients think they have too light of a foundation until they learn how to highlight and contour. When your foundation is just the right shade it will actually make you look like a flat canvas UNTIL you highlight and contour. The H & C is what accentuates the unique angles of your face, creating a healthy and balanced look. Although there are hundreds of very detailed videos that take highlighting and contouring to a whole new level, adding it to your makeup routine can be simple and fun while still making a dramatic difference.

CONTOUR FIRST

If you have freckles, age spots, or scarring, highlighting and contouring works best with our multitasking creams. They have an extra boost of coverage to smooth out any uneven areas as well as being easy to blend for H&C beginners. If you have fair to light skin and you are just looking for a true ‘shadow’ tone, our Martini Aloe Cream Tint works really well. For light to medium skin tones, Illuminating Aloe Cream Tint or Raw Agave HDD is suitable. If you have dry skin, you may prefer a BB Cream shade that is two or three shades darker than your skin tone for contouring. I have mentioned on Instagram how I love using the Almond Cocoa BB Cream shade as a contour and then following with a little Illuminating Loose Tint over top for longevity. It requires so little blending and I find it is perfect for a quick morning makeup to create a healthy but natural look. For deeper skin tones or for editorial, try our Henna Aloe Cream Tint paired with Henna Loose Tint. A light contour can also be created to accentuate eyes by applying in the crease.

HIGHLIGHT SECOND

For fair skin tones, our White Brightener highlights perfectly with your shade of Concealing HDD. For light skin tones that are on the cool side, Pink Brightener mixed with your shade of Concealing HDD is a winner. Medium skin tones can achieve a perfect highlighting tone using our Beige Brightener mixed with your shade of Concealing HDD. Deeper skin tones can pair our new Deep Yellow Brightener with your shade of Concealing HDD. Because our formulas do not contain any fillers like Mica, Titanium Dioxide, and Bismuth Oxychloride, a little product goes a long way, whether it is to brighten or to contour. After you pick up the product with your brush, test a little on the back of your hand to make sure you do not add too much contour and create a ‘dirty face’ effect. I have posted about this topic before but because I find it is crucial in creating a healthy look, and works so well for ALL AGES, I will continually be preaching the H & C gospel!;)
