methylene blue reduction is a form of mb which is visibly clear, as opposed to the familiar dark blue tint. It absorbs more readily and is best to apply to the body. If applying to face for skincare benefits, dilute with coconut cream moisturizer or with your favourite moisturizer. carrot seed oil will create an light orange tint if you feel you need a little colour to make sure that you evenly apply the product. If you plan on wearing white or light coloured clothes, I recommend going without the carrot seed oil. You will still see a slight white colour. This light colour will not rub off on dark clothing and can be used as a tracer to see where the product has been applied..

The above is just a suggestion. It is best to start with samples if you have never tried a DHA-free formula before.. Always apply in the morning to dry skin following a shower, the first time following a thorough exfoliation for best results. Applying in the evening will not work. If you want to go for a darker tan as a full body tan, go one or two numbers up. For example, if you are in a wedding and have extra fair skin but want a little boost of colour that will show well in outdoor/evening photos, you may want to try 2 or 3 if you usually use 1.
face tan suggestions: Extra light, which used to be ‘1’ is best suited to you if you have extra fair, fair or Vanilla skin tone if you use my makeup. Light skin tones, or Almond and Macadamia suit what is now ‘light’ and used to be ‘2’, It is double the tan colour of extra light, ‘1’. Dark which used to be ‘3’ is double the tan colour of light and is best for light medium skin tones or Burnt Almond level skin tones. The fourth darkest shade is double the tan colour of the third darkest shade and used to be ‘4’. It is best for medium skin tones and darker. If you use my makeup it is suitable for skin tones who use my raw agave and warm agave shades.
face tan application directions: It is best to lightly exfoliate the face before applying caramel tan as a face tan. Make sure your skin is dry before application. Make sure that caramel tan is applied to bare skin. No other products should be on the skin before application. To create more of a sun-kissed look instead of the same shade of colour all over, apply the product evenly to the entire face, neck, back of neck into hairline and around ears for the most realistic ‘tan’. Then, to create a more contoured or sun-kissed tan on the face, custom apply a tiny application of coconut cream moisturizer, raspberry elixir, or your favourite moisturizer and apply just a little to the inside part of your face, like around the mouth and either side of nose, or anywhere you would like to ‘dilute the tan a little. Then take an old wash cloth or paper towel and make sure your tan is blended well into the hairline and there is no demarcation when the tan develops. The active tanning ingredient does not develop as quickly as DHA so you will not see an immediate to eight hour tan. Make sure to apply it 3-4 days before your special event. To maintain colour to face, apply every other day. If you see any area where the colour is a little uneven, you can smooth the colour by lightly exfoliating the darker spot or area. Keeping skin hydrated will keep your tan more vibrant and extend the life of your tan.
body tan application directions: caramel tan is best applied after a thorough body exfoliation. The generic exfoliating gloves in different colours work best. It is important the skin is dry so wait about half an hour after getting out of the shower. That way, the color will develop smoothly. It does not have an immediate to eight hour tint as most DHA formulas do but the cream is white enough (if methylene blue or carrot oil has not been added) that you can tell when it is applied evenly. If you choose to add carrot seed oil it adds a hint of golden colour (not suggested if you will be wearing white the same day). Your ‘tan’ will take twice as long to develop as a DHA formula and will last longer too. Make sure you start applying it 3-4 days before your event. If you are planning on applying two applications back-to-back, apply it 4 days before your special event. For a consistent tan on the body, apply once a week to maintain colour. To extend the longevity of color, apply a plant based, hydrating moisturizer or raw plant oil daily and remember to apply a natural SPF as this ‘tan-looking colour’ does not protect you from the sun.
Important! Sample + full size application instructions: Synthetic ingredients can deactivate the active tanning agent. Also, avoid hyaluronic acid, waxes, silicones, and dimethicone. If you are using my makeup and skincare, I have avoided any ingredients that would do that except for my purifying night serum. If you are not sure of your makeup ingredients I would try it on a different area than the face and apply it generously. The third detail is that some try to spread the samples a little too thin. I recommend just a couple applications per sample on a small area like the inner lower forearm. So you would split the one sample in half (it doesn’t have to be perfectly equal), first half on the first day of application, the second half two days after the first application and do not stretch it any further. The inside forearm is a good place. Always apply in the morning! It is best to not use water that is really hot as it can dehydrate the skin. It is also a good idea to stay away from the ingredients I have recommended. Also, moisturizing often will help extend the life of your tan.
